Composer Portrait & Masterclass at Hochschule für Künste Bremen (July 2–4)
The event was the culmination of long-term preparation and a highly concentrated artistic exchange:
- Advance Preparation: For several weeks leading up to the event, students from the class of Prof. Dr. Fabian Hinsche studied and rehearsed selected solo and chamber works composed by Oleg Boyko.
- The Masterclass: Oleg Boyko arrived for an intensive, full-day masterclass. It was a demanding, highly focused day of one-on-one sessions where the composer worked directly with each student, fine-tuning interpretations, dynamics, and the specific nuances of his pieces.
- The Concert: The residency concluded with a public portrait concert. The program featured HfK Bremen students performing Boyko’s music, alongside special performances by Fabian Hinsche and Oleg Boyko himself, who shared the stage to play his works.
Program Repertoire
The concert presented a diverse showcase of Oleg Boyko’s compositions, including:
- Suite Pastoral (performed by Fabian Hinsche)
- Suite-Graffiti (performed by Oleg Boyko)
- Selections from Suite Nordway, 7 Semantic Miniatures, Suite The Old Forest Tales, Suite in Old Style, L'heure Bleue, Cloudy and Suite in Latin.
Acknowledgments
This intensive exchange was made possible thanks to the dedication of the HfK Bremen guitar students, who put immense effort into mastering the complex repertoire. Special thanks to Fabian Hinsche for preparing the students, managing the invitation, and performing in the final concert.
